Trump has a 55 percent approval rating among Republican primary voters and leads among both men (52 percent to 27 percent) and women (53 percent to 30 percent). The numbers remain remarkably stable from the month before.
Trump’s numbers are also an improvement from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who was at just 39 percent in August before she won the Democratic primary. Trump has been on a winning streak since the beginning of August, with his first-ever presidential debate bump and the shocking revelation of lewd comments about women.
Trump’s overall job approval rating is 45 percent, up six points from August. His numbers are also better than most of the major party nominees in recent history. In the five presidential elections since 1976, only Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan saw their approval ratings increase in the final month of the campaign. Reagan increased his rating by one point and Bush by five.
Trump’s numbers are also higher than Clinton’s throughout most of her campaign. Trump’s previous high approval rating in the Fox News poll was 47 percent in June. Clinton’s best previous high in the Fox News poll was 44 percent in April.
Republicans (82 percent) are almost unanimous in their approval of the president, and Democrats be359ba680
